A five-story biomedical research facility, the Jules F. Knapp Medical Research Center also houses the Gwen Knapp Center for Lupus and Immunology Research. The Jules F. Knapp Medical Research Center is part of the Knapp Research Complex, which also includes the Jules and Gwen Knapp Center for Biomedical Discovery and the Donnelley Biological Sciences Learning Center.

The Gwen and Jules Knapp Center for Biomedical Discovery is named in honor of Gwen and Jules Knapp, longtime supporters of the University of Chicago Medicine. Gwen served as a life member of the Division of the Biological Sciences and Pritzker School of Medicine Advisory Council at the University of Chicago. Jules served as a life trustee on the University of Chicago Medical Center Board of Trustees.
