Established in 2006, the University of Chicago Medicine Kovler Diabetes Center provides holistic care and advances research, education, and community outreach to empower patients to effectively manage their diabetes. In recognition of its leadership in diabetes discovery, the Kovler Diabetes Center is designated as a National Institutes of Health Diabetes Research and Training Center.
The Kovler Diabetes Center is named in honor of the Kovler family with support from Jonathan and Sally Kovler, who have served as volunteer leaders at the University of Chicago. Jonathan is a life trustee of the University of Chicago Medical Center and a former member of the Division of the Biological Sciences and the Pritzker School of Medicine Council, and Sally chaired the Kovler Diabetes Center Board.
