The Ruth Hanna McCormick Simms Pavilion existed as part of the Chicago Lying-In Hospital, which was completed in 1931.
The Pavilion is named in honor of Ruth Hanna McCormick Simms, an activist, politician, and publisher who advocated for the welfare of women and children in the University of Chicago Settlement House.
