The University of Chicago Medicine was among the first in the United States to test and offer breakthrough stem cell transplantation and CAR T-cell therapy to patients with certain blood cancers. To realize the full potential of cellular therapy, the David and Etta Jonas Center for Cellular Therapy was established in 2020 to bring together leading experts and expand research and clinical trials infrastructure to improve the effectiveness of cellular therapy and broaden its application to more types of cancers.
The Jonas Center is named in honor of American healthcare entrepreneur David Jonas and his spouse Etta.
