The MacLean Center for Clinical Medical Ethics has led the development of the field of clinical ethics since its establishment in 1984. Through the promotion of scholarly research and through pioneering programs in ethics consultation and fellowship training, the center seeks to help clinicians and patients resolve ethical dilemmas and improve patient care and outcomes.
The MacLean Center is named in honor of the MacLean family, notably Dorothy J. MacLean and her son Barry MacLean, who is a life member of the University of Chicago Medical Center Board of Trustees and has served on the Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering Council.
