This plaque commemorates the presentation on April 25, 1972 of the bust of Charles B. Huggins and acknowledges contributions to cancer research from the Women’s Board of the University of Chicago Cancer Research Foundation and friends of Dr. Huggins.
Completed in 2005, the Ellen and Melvin Gordon Center for Integrative Science dramatically expanded space for research and teaching in the biological and physical sciences. The space brings together scientists from physical and biomedical sciences to foster novel, interdisciplinary collaborations, and acts as a keystone between the Kersten Physics Teaching Center and John Crerar Library.
The Ellen and Melvin Gordon Center for Integrative Science is named in honor of Ellen and Melvin Gordon, longtime supporters of scientific research at the University of Chicago. Ellen also serves as a life member of the Division of the Biological Sciences and Pritzker School of Medicine Advisory Council at the University of Chicago.
